David Lloyd

Founder of David Lloyd Leisure

The former Davis Cup captain David Lloyd has become so successful as an entrepreneur that he’s probably better known by younger generations for the sports clubs that carry his name than competing at the highest level at Wimbledon with the likes of McEnroe, Nastase and Connors. Following the sale of David Lloyd Leisure to Whitbread he ventured into the world of football.  His involvement with Hull City FC did not prove to be as exciting as his previous career and he moved onto other things.  Next Generation is a chain of luxury leisure clubs similar to the David Lloyd original run by his son Scott both here and in Australia. David also has property and leisure interests in Barbados and is a non-executive director of a children’s indoor soft play centre – Topsy Turvy.

The David Lloyd Academy has now joined forces with the LTA and together with their chief executive aims to produce world-class tennis players.  It is their hope that they will unearth future British talent and will offer the best tennis coaching and advice available.
