On 26th May 2016 we held the 2nd nsif Polo Day at Guards Polo Club. The regal grounds were the perfect setting for a fantastic event in the sun. We welcomed over 80 nsif supporters to enjoy an indulgent afternoon of champagne, fine food and world class polo – all whilst raising money for nsif.
Guests were treated to a champagne reception on arrival and were then seated for lunch provided by Guard’s in house caterers Pink. Before everyone tucked into their delicious lunch, nsif trustee Steven Smith gave a very moving speech about his experience with spinal injury and his decision to support nsif. Steven also made the very exciting announcement that he is going to take part in the London Marathon next spring – more on this later.
After lunch, the auction commenced. Hosted by the fantastic Rob Hubbard from Bonhams who kept the crowd entertained whilst raising a great amount for nsif. The auction featured a variety of remarkable prizes including; A stay in The Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech and an exclusive meal for eight hosted by Michel Roux OBE at the famed Waterside Inn. Quick on the heels of the auction was the hotly anticipated raffle including prizes such as dinner for two at Claridge’s.
The excitement continued late into the afternoon as the polo match began. For many this was their first time as polo spectators and they revelled in the opportunity to learn more about this prestigious sport through commentary by the entertaining Ebe Sievwright.
A fantastic day was had by all and over £15,000 was raised for nsif!
Thank you to the team at Guards Polo Club and for all of the hard work and effort you put in to making our Polo Day a success. Another huge thank you goes out John and Theresa Thorley of Equestrian Art UK who not only donated 15% of the sale of any painting from their exhibition on the day, but also donated a painting for our auction.
