On Friday 14th June 2019 we held our Second Annual Clay Pigeon Flush Day at Pennsport Shooting School in the beautiful Berkshire countryside. After a week of rain, the sun shone as guests enjoyed breakfast followed by an introduction from the school’s founder Nick Penn, who has tutored a variety of clientele including HRH Prince Charles.
Teams then set off to compete for the top spot at each of the eight stands, including the notorious ‘In the Heavens’ which saw shooters aiming their guns directly above their heads. Following an exciting morning of shooting, attendees handed in their scorecards and gathered outside the marquee to enjoy a well-deserved drink in the sunshine. The Bel & the Dragon served up a delicious lunch of barbecued ribs with colourful salads and a delightful cheeseboard for guests to enjoy.
During lunch, the suspense of who the winning team would be began to build. Guests were offered another chance to win as they purchased their raffle tickets, with three large Fortnum & Mason hampers up for grabs. nsif’s Charlotte Mitchell then gave an update on the important work the charity is funding. Following this Rob Hubbard, the live auctioneer, kicked off the auction with eleven generously donated lots. The fantastic items included: Chef’s table for ten at Marcus Wareing’s Michelin-starred restaurant at The Berkeley, six tickets to the sold out V&A Dior exhibition with champagne lunch, a wine experience in the five-star Château de Berne in Provence; a week-long stay in your own luxury Indonesian Villa for eight people, two rods on the famous Bagnor Estate Chalk Stream with dinner for six at The Woodspeen and two nights at the Mandarin Oriental Paris. Following the auction, nsif Trustee, Fred Watt, thanked everyone for their participation in the event.
A fantastic day was had by all and importantly, the event generated £50,000 of profit. These funds will make a huge impact, allowing the continuation of important research into developing a cure for paralysis as a result of spinal cord injury.
A very special thank you to all in attendance and especially to Helen Storey, Alastair Storey, Nick Penn & team, Portico Flowers, Majestic Wine Warehouse, Bidfood, Rob Hubbard, the Bel & the Dragon team and all those that supported the event.
