Nsif 10th Celebrity Golf Event

The 31st July and 1st August marked the 10th nsif Celebrity Golf Event hosted at The Oxfordshire Golf Club. The two-day golfing event commenced on the Sunday with keen golfers taking the opportunity to get a practice round in the day before the hotly anticipated competition.

Later that evening over 130 guests were treated to a champagne and canapé reception that overlooked the setting sun over the golf course.  Shortly after this, guests were seated for dinner, exquisitely prepared by chefs from the Mandarin Oriental London. During the dinner speeches were made by long-time supporters of the charity Paul Gibbons and Jennifer Shah. Founder David Nicholls described the significant contribution that funds raised by the golf day has made to finding a cure for spinal cord injury, thanking nsif supporters both old and new.

The evening had much to offer with entertainment being provided by a magician and a fantastic show by the cast of Jersey Boys. Throughout the night guests had the opportunity to bid on a number of high-end items on both the silent auction, with technology provided by Iris and Red Rocket, and a live auction hosted by Willy Thorne. Items included a quarter share in a racehorse with Sir Ian Botham and Sir Gareth Edwards, The Craigellachie Golf and Whisky weekend including a five course banquet for 20 people, and 7 nights at The Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas.

The next morning, after enjoying a hearty breakfast, teams set out on the renowned 18-hole golf course in a bid to win the top prizes on offer. The tournament concluded with a delectable brunch and the presentation to winners.

The event was a huge success, with many guests enthusing about the weekend’s enjoyment.

Thank you to Paul and Jennifer Gibbons without whom the event would not be possible. Thanks too are due to Eddy and Jennifer Shah for their hard work and dedication leading up to the event, as well as the Mandarin Oriental London and The Oxfordshire for attentive and immaculate service throughout. We are grateful to have a network of supporters who donated wonderful items for the auctions, and to those that attended and gave generously.
