Team nsif Conquers the Great North Run 2026 – Raising Almost £10,000!
We are absolutely delighted to share that our five nsif runners – Martin Devereux, Harry Smailes, Mike Lees, Andy Barber and Adam Hopkins – successfully completed the AJ Bell Great North Run on Sunday, taking on 13.1 miles through the streets of Newcastle in support of research into a cure for spinal cord injury.
Together, this fantastic team has raised almost £10,000 for nsif- an incredible achievement that will make a real difference to our work funding the most promising research into spinal cord injury.
All five runners took on the challenge inspired by Steve Pye, whose story means a great deal to them. Steve was paralysed from the chest down by a virus at just 15 years old, and told he would never walk again. His remarkable determination through intensive rehabilitation – he can now walk short distances with the aid of sticks – has been a lasting source of inspiration to the team, and it was that same spirit that carried them through every mile.
A huge congratulations and thank you to Martin, Harry, Mike, Andy and Adam for their dedication, their training, and their commitment to this cause. And thank you to everyone who sponsored them – your generosity is helping to change the future for thousands of people living with spinal cord injury.
