Alastair Storey OBE is a British businessman and one of the UK’s most influential figures in hospitality and contract catering. Born in Fyvie, Aberdeenshire, he was educated at Robert Gordon’s College before studying hospitality and catering management at Strathclyde University.
Alastair began his career at Sutcliffe Catering Services before rising through Granada Food Services. In 2000, he founded what would become BaxterStorey, growing it into the UK’s leading independent hospitality provider, operating across hundreds of locations in the UK, Ireland and Europe.
He was appointed OBE in the 2017 Birthday Honours for services to the hospitality industry, and in 2012 was named the most influential person in UK hospitality – a position he held again in 2018. He is Chairman of the Trustees of the Gold Service Scholarship, a Life Patron of Springboard and a Patron of the Edge Hotel School.
Alastair became a Patron of the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation in 2026, following a 12-year tenure as a Trustee for the charity. His generosity, encouragement and practical support have made a lasting difference to nsif.
