In June this year we gained a new member of the nsif fundraising team – Elaine Barret from Perth in Australia.

Elaine has experience of spinal injury through her friend May, who was a nurse at a rehabilitation centre. May would often talk about her work with young patients in the centre whose lives had been changed due to a spinal cord injury. What struck Elaine the most about her friend’s experiences was the sadness in the lack of hope of recovery for many of these young people.

It is for this reason that Elaine felt so touched by David and Daniel’s story featured on 60 minutes, and contacted the team here to see how she could help our cause.

After getting in touch, Elaine pledged to take part in Perth’s City Surf event, walking 12 km from the city centre to the beach with a group of friends to raise money for nsif.
\r\n
We are incredibly grateful to Elaine for all that she has achieved for us, and thrilled to have some support in Australia.
