Keen golfers headed out for the 17th year to the world renowned eighteen- hole course on the afternoon of Sunday the 30th of July to get a practise round in. On their return, they joined our other guests on the terrace overlooking the stunning grounds at the hotel for a canape and champagne toasting reception. Guests then took to their seats for the gala dinner which was opened with a welcome from the charity’s founder David Nicholls and a Cabaret act from Stage Right Entertainment.
Guests were treated to an elaborate four course dinner cooked by staff from the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. Continuing the buzz, the evening was continued by the live auction. With ten World class prizes including eight luxurious nights in Hong Kong staying in the Landmark and Mandarin oriental for two, a Nobu dining experience in your own home with Mark Edwards and two nights for up to ten people at the Craigellachie with dinner at the Spey Inn and Whisky Tasting at Quaich, could be won. This was expertly hosted by auctioneer Charlie Ross.
Guests also had the opportunity to bid on a further twenty-eight money-cannot-buy prizes through our Silent Auction. This included three nights in the Mandarin Paris, with dinner at Camelia Restaurant for two, a three course a la carte meal at the two Michelin star pub, Hand and Flowers and a round of golf at the Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club for four, among many other fantastic opportunities. This was all run through our online platform provider, ‘Givergy’.
The following morning, after enjoying a hearty breakfast, the 24 teams in total took to the course to compete for the top spot. The day concluded with the famous Golf Day Brunch and prize giving, with the winning team of Boyen Wells, Deborah Jeavas, Mark Precious and Ally Wells.
NSIF’s Golf Day is our charity’s biggest event of the year and a big thank you goes out to all whom attended our 2023 event and those that have continued to support and engage with us over the years. Every attendee, prize donor, auction bidder and member of the support team made important contributions allowing this year to be another incredible success. A special thank you also goes out to Jennifer and Paul Gibbons for allowing us to host the tournament at their resort again.
Thank you to the catering and front of house teams, support staff and of course all who donated prizes.
This year’s event raised over £80,000 profit, with all the proceeds funding the ground-breaking work, changing the future of spinal cord injury.
